Chestnut Vale Kennels is committed to producing dogs that reflect good conformation (i.e., with regard to the breed standard), have very strong field capabilities, and possess good dispositions.  The dogs selected for breeding are those that reflect the best of the breed, with superb bloodlines consisting of substantial accomplishments in field and show.  Furthermore, it is our intent to ensure that our breeding stock is free of genetic problems (e.g., hip dysplasia, retinal problems).  We are also very intent on producing dogs that are fine “companion dogs” for families.  Ultimately, because we believe that training and competition can be among the most rewarding components of owning a dog, we are very supportive of those that desire to acquire our dogs for the purpose of fieldwork (e.g., hunting), hunt competitions (e.g., hunt tests, field trials), and showing.

We will normally have one to two litters of pups per year.  At the time of the sale, the pups will have been de-wormed, will had their first shots, and will have had their tails docked and dew claws removed: medical records will be provided to the new owner.  In addition, the pups will be sold with AKC registration papers and a five generation pedigree.  Finally, please note that it is of utmost importance to us to ensure the fact that our pups are a “good fit” with potential owners; therefore, we customarily query potential owners about “quality of life” plans for the new pup (for more information, see pup questionnaire and pup agreement below).
